Kristina's Thoughts on Gratitude
I love the topic of gratitude! Here is one of my favorite experiences. This is where I gained a true testimony of the attitude of gratitude.
When I moved to Utah I didn't have any friends, I felt like an out cast with my co workers (that was really hard) because I was the only one that was a member of the church. I wanted to quite my job EVERY SECOND OF EVERY DAY. I really was NOT happy with life. Well I decided one day that on my way to work I would (in my head) list all things I was grateful for. I did that day after day, alll the way to work I was listing my blessings. I can not explain the change that took place in my life! IT WAS HUGE!!! I was so full of gratitude that I became so happy with life. Not just happy but like walking on clouds happy. I felt like a royal princess with all my blessings. I lived in America, born in to an amazing family, born into the gospel, I had a job, I had a warm apartment to come home to, I had a nice car (even though the heater didn't work, eek, that was cold!) I just felt so richly blessed that I couldn't help but feel so fortunate and alive :)
Being grateful truly blesses YOU!
YES Heavenly Father wants you to remember to thanks Him for all he does for you and WE SHOULD. But it also opens your heart up to more love and even compassion for those less fortunate.
Also having an attitude of gratitude helps you keep your thoughts toward Christ through out your day. because your remembering who it is that is blessing you.
I am grateful for the trails I have had in my life, it was through the hard times I developed a relationship with my Heavenly Father.
I am grateful for prayer and that direct communication to Heaven. I seriously LOVE prayer... More than the group me app if you can imagine that :-)
And I am SO grateful for Dad, Mom and the whole family! I can't believe how blessed I am to have been lucky enough to be in this family! To have the most elect parents! Parents who not only loved us, was there for us, taught us right from wrong, but where perfect examples of disciple ship. And to have siblings that care about me and my well being. I'm so glad that everyone wants to stay close to one another. Thank you family I would not be who and where I am today with out each and every one if you!
